Frequently Asked questions

When should I contact you to book my maternity or newborn session?

It's never too early! Most moms-to-be reach out late first trimester or early second trimester.  I only take so many babies per month and will often be fully booked months in advance. With that said, I do sometimes have last minute availability, so don't be afraid to reach out!

When is the best time to have a maternity or newborn session?

Maternity sessions are held between 28-34 weeks. Newborn sessions are ideally between 5-14 days old, but it is really up to you! Some parents want to get photos done immediately. Others would like to hold off on newborn sessions until a few weeks old, please let me know and we will adjust your booking. There is no right or wrong.

Can I book my newborn session with you after my baby is born?

I book clients based on due date and will oftentimes book several months in advance. Sometimes I will have last-minute openings, but I always suggest securing your session several months before your estimated due date.

Can my other children be involved?

All immediate family members are welcome! Including pups! If you would like additional family members involved, please be aware of additional fees. Send me an email and we can discuss your ideas!

Why should my family do a newborn session?

Because babies don't keep. Those tiny fingers and toes grow so quickly. You will want to be able to look back on those tiny snuggles and early days with your new family member.

What if my home isn't spotless?

When I come into your home, you just had a baby. Babies come with a lot of stuff! No one's home is perfectly spotless, especially after bringing home a newborn. With that said, a quick tidy goes a long way. Clear off nightstands, burp clothes go into a drawer or basket, open the blinds to let in some beautiful light and we will be good!

What should I wear?

Before I arrive, try to have your baby in minimal clothing. Either swaddled or in an easy off zip-up or onesie. For parents and siblings, I always suggest light and airy colors. Blue tones, earth tones, pastels. Choose your color pallet and it will make building outfits for everyone a little easier. Instead of everyone in white shirts and jeans, try to coordinate colors to look cohesive versus matchy-matchy. Try to have back up outfits, especially for older siblings. Kids are messy, especially when you need them not to be. Avoid last minute stress by having a backup.

Do you offer photo printing or albums?

I do! Your session includes digital downloads of your images. If you are interested in heirloom quality matted prints, folios or albums I would be happy to bring along examples to your session and discuss design. I always encourage families to print their photos. These memories aren't doing anyone any good sitting in your cloud. Albums are great gifts for grandparents to show off their grandbabies!
